Crop Sharing with Landowners
At the heart of our operations is conservation. Our practices and machinery have beneficial impacts on soil condition and its ability to retain water. We believe in communicating openly with the landowners whose fields we rent.
For landowners, we offer several types of contracts. The simplest is a straight cash rental agreement.
We also offer flexible lease contracts. One such flexible lease is a crop share agreement. This is where the landowner offers up the land at no cost and we provide all the equipment and labour to grow the crop. Variable costs such as seed, fertilizer, and crop protection products are shared 50-50%. Each the landowner and tenant keep 50% of the harvested crop.
Another flexible lease that is gaining popularity is a base-plus-bonus contract. With this contract the landowner receives a guaranteed minimum amount of rent. We keep track of all our variable expenses, field passes, and crop yields. If the total revenue from that field exceeds expenses, then the landowner receives 50% of the profits - the bonus.
Both flexible lease scenarios allow for fair rent to be paid every year, and provide opportunities for the landowner to earn extra revenue.
