Strip-Tilling
Our strip-till machine is a Soil Warrior from Environmental Tillage Solutions. It is the cornerstone of our cropping system. The Soil Warrior is equipped with two fertilizer bins, which allows us to apply nutrients and/or cover crops as we are preparing strips to plant into. Both bins can apply products on a variable rate basis using prescription maps that we create in our farm office.
The Soil Warrior has a deep fall tillage setup and a spring shallow tillage option. Fall tillage is completed using a cogged wheel to a depth of about 8”. In the spring we will till in the same zone using two wavy coulters to prepare the seedbed and incorporate fertilizers to a depth of about 3”.
